Features

WALTER F8055 Surge Anticipating Relief Valve is mounted in a tee, downstream of the pump check valves. It is designed to anticipate surges to avoid the severe water hammer often associated with power failure surges. When pumping systems are started and stopped gradually, harmful surges do not occur. However, should a power failure take place, the abrupt stopping of the pump can cause dangerous surges in the system which could result in severe equipment damage. Power failure to a pump will usually result in a down surge in pressure, followed by an up surge in pressure. The surge control valve opens on the initial low pressure wave, diverting the returning high pressure wave from the system. In effect, the valve has anticipated the returning high pressure wave and is open to dissipate the damage causing surge. The valve will then close slowly without generating any further pressure surges .

FAQ

What materials are available for the valve body?
Standard bodies are made of ductile iron, but stainless steel or bronze bodies are available as optional upgrades for oil and seawater applications.
How does the valve prevent water hammer damage?
The valve anticipates returning high-pressure waves caused by power failure surges, opening to divert them and closing slowly to dissipate damage without generating further pressure spikes.
Is the valve easy to maintain?
Yes, the design allows for easy maintenance without the need to remove the valve from the main line.
What are the testing standards for this valve?
The valve undergoes body strength tests at 1.5 times PN and seal tightness tests at 1.1 times PN according to BS EN 12266-1.
Can the valve be customized for specific applications?
Yes, the company accepts OEM/ODM orders and offers options like special V-Ports, double chambers, and various pilots upon consultation.
What is the coating thickness for corrosion resistance?
The valve features full internal and external coating with an average thickness of 250 microns, with higher thicknesses available upon request.
What are the lead times for production?
During peak season, the lead time is one month, while off-season production is completed within 15 working days.
